My love of travel began 30 years ago on a post-college backpacking odyssey of Europe with my dear friend, Lisa. This was before the days of cell phones and Euros. Lisa and I navigated new cities using guide books and changed currency each time we changed countries. We loved the challenge of navigating train schedules and hostel reservations. We loved meeting new people from all over the world and experiencing in person artwork and architecture that we had only studied in books.
One of my favorite reasons to travel is to meet new people and hear their stories. People are far more similar than different. Another reason to travel is the sensory experience: pizza in Naples tastes like no other; plumeria in Hawaii smells sweeter; corridos in Puerto Vallarta stir the emotions.
My favorite travel quote is: "The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page."

My love of travel began 39 years ago when I was 19. I remember it vividly. It was only the 3rd time I had been on a plane but yet here I was being flung out the door of a jet airplane at 1200' along with 143 other brand new paratroopers. In the most terrifying seconds of my young life, I realized that there’s got to be a better way to travel! Since that time, I’ve traveled to 29 countries and lived in Korea for a year.
My travel experiences have enriched my life in so many ways and it’s only been made better sharing those experiences with family and friends. The Italians say, “A tavola non s'invecchia,” which translates to, “You don’t get old at the table.” I love this saying because it’s the essence of what travel is really all about to me; slow down, stay awhile and visit. So as you can see, travel to me is just one big Italian dinner table and may the dinner never end. Buon appetito e buon viaggio!
